Many traumatic experiences share a common factor; they all produce a sense of hopelessness and insecurity, a sense of uncertainty as it remains impossible to predict how long they will last. In the case of Bosnia, it is difficult to correctly assess the extent of trauma that is connected to its wartime events. These wounds remain unhealed for many, forgotten by some, memorialized in some cases and ignored in others. This collective trauma didn’t end with the Dayton Accords being signed and it is passed on from generation to generation.  Even in the years and decades ahead, in the most peaceful circumstances, trauma is something that remains a constant threat and keeps coming back.
